Fibreglass Garage Roof Specification

A durable, versatile and highly customisable design, fibreglass is a composite material made from polyester laminating resin and glass fibre reinforcement. When used to create a flat roof, a fibreglass laminate is applied to the underlying timber decking. Typically, a single 600 gram chopped strand matting (CSM) is used as the reinforcement phase, with a dual-layer being applied

in the event that greater reinforcement is required.

In most cases, insulation will have been installed underneath the timber decking – often as part of a Warm Roof design. GRP trims are used to border the perimeter of the garage flat roof. Associated fascia and gutter work can be integrated into the installation if required. Once the fibreglass laminate has cured, a layer of resin topcoat will be applied. Full RAL and BS colour schemes are available, although most property owners choose grey as it blends in well with their property.

This type of fibreglass flat roof can be applied as an overdeck or an overlay system, avoiding the need to fully replace the underlying structures.
